Haemorrhoid Procedures
The Manchester General Surgeon offers a wide range of surgical treatment options that can be used to treat haemorrhoids, which all usually involve either removing the haemorrhoids or reducing their blood supply, causing them to shrink.

The Rafaelo® Procedure
The Rafaelo® Procedure is an excellent alternative to surgery because it is minimally invasive, has low risk of pain and it allows patients to leave as soon as the procedure is finished. By using radio frequency ablation technology, your consultant colorectal surgeon will be able to reduce the size of the haemorrhoid and eliminate your symptoms.

Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation (HALO)
The Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation (HALO) is a surgical operation designed to eradicate piles without the need for cutting. As such, it is relatively pain free, and most patients are back to work after 24-48 hours with only a minimum of discomfort, which if there is any, is no more than a mild a throbbing in the rectum.

Banding
Banding is a common treatment for haemorrhoids. It may be used to treat haemorrhoids which have not settled with the measures above (such as increase in fibre etc).

Haemorrhoidectomy
A haemorrhoidectomy typically takes about twenty minutes and is performed under a general anaesthetic.
